Margaret Pooley Tribute Riesling
Wine
Pooley Margaret Pooley Tribute Riesling is named in honour of winery co-founder Margaret Pooley. She and her husband Denis planted the Cooinda Vale Vineyard in 1985.
Margaret Pooley remained in charge of the vineyard well into her 90s, and could often be found tending the vines during the coldest Tasmanian winters. These vines provide the fruit.
The fruit partially is whole bunch pressed, the remainder destemmed and crushed. Cool fermentation takes place after a short period of skin contact to build texture. The wine rests on lees for several months prior to bottling.
Pale straw green, Pooley Margaret Pooley Tribute Riesling has superb balance and length of flavour, with a rich texture, green apple acidity and a saline finish.
It is made only in exceptional years, only in tiny quantities. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
